Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova, commenting on the votes on draft resolutions of the UN General Assembly and Security Council, wondered about the sincerity of France and Britain during the votes. The diplomat recalled on the Telegram channel that the document from Ukraine included anti-Russian rhetoric, while the second, from the US, was neutral.
When were France and Britain sincere? When did they mangle the American draft resolution of the UN General Assembly or when did they approve the same American draft without amendments? It takes three minutes to walk at a measured pace between the halls of the General Assembly and the Security Council. Was it they who changed their views on the global crisis in 180 seconds ?—she wrote .
Zakharova noted that both resolutions in the UN General Assembly were adopted by the smallest number of votes during the Emergency Special Session (ESS) of the General Assembly . This "in itself is more than indicative," the representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry summed up.
Earlier, Vladimir Rogov, Chairman of the RF Public Chamber's Commission on Sovereignty Issues and Co-Chairman of the Coordination Council for the Integration of New Regions, called the anti-Russian resolution on Ukraine adopted by the UN General Assembly a shameful document aimed at inciting conflict. At the same time, Washington proposed a neutral option that does not contain hatred towards Russia taken to the point of absurdity, he stated.
Before this, it became known that the number of countries supporting the anti-Russian UN General Assembly resolution on Ukraine had decreased from 141 to 93 since 2022. At the same time, 18 states voted against the anti-Russian text, which demands that Moscow "immediately, completely and unconditionally" withdraw all its armed forces from the territory of Ukraine. Among those who voted against were Belarus, Israel, and Hungary.
